- Most Memorable Flight My first 300km flight; cu at 6000, and thermals of about 4 to 5 knots in strength. The triangle was from Waikerie to Peebinga, then along the Vic border to Lindsay River. I decided to cut across Renmark after leaving a sink hole at Lindsay river, which turned out to be a bad decision as the sky was nearly dead there. I got down to 1500 feet over the best possible outlanding paddock I could find (Renmark Aerodrome) and was stuck there for half an hour before catching a thermal to 4000 and limping back to waikerie. Incidentally, about two weeks later I repeated the same triangle, hooked into a 12kt thermal straight off the launch to 12,000 feet and again made the decision to cut across Renmark on the final leg; this time it was the best part of the entire flight, with big cu forming at 12,000. Gotta love nature.
- Started Flying 2003 at age 14
Been addicted to flying since I started, more or less...but due to monetary issues, only flew on and off (about 10 flights a year) at stonefield before moving to waikerie in 05 and finishing training. |
