General

XCSoar is unique in that it is not only one of a very small number of Glide Computers that are completely free and Open Source but it is also highly maintained by a number of dedicated developers in Australia, including three at the Gliding Club of Victoria.

Scott Penrose is the project and release manager along with a number of the sub systems.

.................... This is such a fantastic program. It is quite easy to get a full moving map flight computer into your glider. Here is a photo of my setup. It is an HP "travel companion"(IPAQ 5965) It has an inbuilt gps. Put xcsoar on it, and you are set! I made a mount for my dash. Thanks to John and the team from XCSOAR!!.......And yes you can read a PDA in full sunlight. This photo was taken at 7000' in flight :) Image:pik1.jpg
